Recitation of Tamil spiritual mantras, including Tamil hymns implemented in temples and has been in practice, says HC
The Madras High Court dismissed petitions seeking to mandate the equal recitation of Tamil hymns alongside Sanskrit in temple rituals. The court stated that such practices are already implemented where appropriate and that it cannot create new laws regarding temple liturgy.

The recitation of Tamil spiritual mantras, including Tamil hymns by Odhuvars, has already been addressed and implemented in temples, and has been in practice, said the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Thursday.
The court was hearing two separate petitions. The petition filed by Tamil Rajendiran alias R. Rajendiran sought a direction to the authorities to take effective steps to implement the use of Tamil spiritual mantras and Tamil hymns, along with Sanskrit, in the Yagasaalai, Karuvarai and Gopura Vimaanam, on an equal footing, during the consecration of Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple.
