A real estate businessman met a watery grave after the car he was driving overturned and fell into the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) canal near Gargeyapuram in Kurnool on Friday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Ramachandra Reddy (62), a resident of RTC Colony in Kurnool and a native of Veepanagandla village in Midtur mandal of Nandyal district.

Police said Ramachandra Reddy was driving to his native village alone when the mishap took place. As he reached near the HNSS canal, Ramachandra Reddy tried to avoid a vehicle coming from the opposite direction and lost control over the vehicle. The car overturned and fell into the canal.
