Real Madrid asks about McTominay, the "Scottish Maradona" whom Mourinho calls "my boy"

Real Madrid has reportedly made inquiries regarding the potential transfer of Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay. The Scottish international, who has thrived in Serie A, is currently facing contract renewal complications at his club.
Why it matters
McTominay's potential move to a top-tier club like Real Madrid highlights his rapid rise in European football following his departure from Manchester United.
Real Madrid would be interested in Scott McTominay, a 29-year-old player who is thriving at Napoli in Serie A after having been discarded in 2024 by Manchester United. "Il Mattino" reports that McTominay's renewal is becoming complicated, so "the risk of his departure being accelerated could be real." Fabio Tarantino assures that for president De Laurentiis the renewal of the Scot is not a priority, given that the current contract runs until June 2028; however, it is for the player's camp, which wants to resolve the matter as soon as possible. Napoli paid 30.5 million for Scott McTominay, who this season overcame a mild and benign cardiac arrhythmia that required him to undergo surgery. The Italian newspaper has already reported that "Real Madrid have made inquiries with Scott McTominay's entourage", although it is not the only club interested.
