Real looters of Ram Temple protected by BJP-RSS, alleges Uttar Pradesh Congress chief

Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai has accused the BJP government and the RSS of protecting individuals involved in the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Temple. He claims the appointment of a new CEO is a distraction from the financial irregularities.
Why it matters
This reflects the ongoing political tension in India regarding religious institutions and allegations of corruption against the ruling party.
Uttar Pradesh Congress Unit president Ajay Rai on Thursday (September 4, 2026) accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of protecting the looters of donations and betraying the faith of crores of devotees of Sanatan Dharma.
“The appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the Ram Temple Trust has taken place, but the real question was about the loot of offerings and donations in the temple of Lord Ram. What happened to it? Modi government and the RSS saved the looters of donations by giving protection; they betrayed the faith of crores of devotees of this country, and it’s a betrayal of Sanatan Dharma,” Mr. Rai said to The Hindu .
