Former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Hanumanthu Lajapathirai on Sunday (October 11, 2026) said reading is the foundation for personality development and for acquiring intellectual capabilities. He urged parents to encourage children to focus on reading books at an early age.
Dr. Lajapathirai has been elected honorary president of the Vizianagaram Reads Community, established by Repalle Eswara Rao a few years ago in Vizianagaram. A special reading session for children was organised on Saturday and Sunday (October 10 and 11, 2026) at eminent poet and writer Gurajada Apparao's memorial house, located near the fort.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Dr. Lajapathirai lauded Mr. Eswara Rao's efforts to make children attend special reading classes every weekend and to read biographies of eminent personalities and children's literature.
