Ration card holders in Erode asked to complete biometric verification by July 31

Erode district authorities have mandated that all ration card holders complete biometric verification by July 31. The drive aims to update beneficiary records for the Public Distribution System, with provisions for home visits for the elderly and those with physical limitations.
Why it matters
Ensures the integrity of government welfare distribution and prevents fraud by verifying the actual presence of beneficiaries.
Erode Collector S. Kandasamy has asked beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household (PsHH) categories to complete biometric verification of all family members listed in their ration cards by July 31.
In a press release, the Collector said the verification drive is being carried out across the State to update the biometric details of beneficiaries receiving essential commodities through the Public Distribution System. Ration card holders who are temporarily residing away from their native places for employment or other reasons may complete the verification at the nearest fair price shop in the locality where they are currently staying.
