NEW DELHI: The Shri Ramlila Mahasangh has asked the makers of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana to hold a special preview screening for its representatives before the film's worldwide theatrical release, warning that it will stage protests if the request is not accepted.In a letter addressed to director Nitesh Tiwari and the film's production company, Shri Ramlila Mahasangh president Arjun Kumar sought a screening of the film ahead of its Diwali 2026 release in India and overseas to ensure it does not contain scenes that could hurt Hindu sentiments.The demand comes in the backdrop of the controversy surrounding the 2023 film Adipurush, which drew criticism over its depiction of characters and settings from the Hindu epic.Recalling the earlier controversy, Kumar said members of the Sanatan community and those associated with traditional Ramlila performances had objected to several aspects of Adipurush, including "the depiction of Lanka in black instead of gold, and the…
