President Cyril Ramaphosa has granted the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry a further extension , with the inquiry now expected to submit its final report in January 2027.
The commission’s new deadline is Monday, January 25, 2027, replacing the previous deadline of November 16, 2026.
According to the Presidency, the extension will give the commission additional time to consider further evidence, including testimony from experts who have made recommendations relevant to its terms of reference.
Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said the extension would allow the commission to complete its work after additional issues emerged during its hearings.
Magwenya also expressed Ramaphosa’s appreciation for the commission’s work and for the steps being taken by law-enforcement agencies in response to evidence emerging during the inquiry.
