Officials noted that the precautionary step was anchored in lessons from past incidents, referencing a staggering 1,200-plus criminal cases registered between 2015 and 2025 for violations during Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar memorial days and Thevar Jayanthi observances.
Under the fresh directives, travel restrictions target supporters travelling from outside the district to attend commemorative events.
