The Supreme Court on Monday (July 13, 2026) directed the State of Uttar Pradesh to file a status report on the ongoing probe into the Ram Temple donations’ embezzlement case , and sought responses from both the State and the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on petitions seeking to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant agreed with an oral request made by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for both the Union and Uttar Pradesh government, to not issue formal judicial notice to them. The court confined itself to issuing a formal judicial notice only to the Trust.
