Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha writes to PM Modi; seeks halt to demolition of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University buildings

Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to halt the demolition of buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Uttar Pradesh. Jha argues that the demolition is disproportionate and politically motivated, potentially damaging India's educational reputation.
Why it matters
The conflict highlights tensions between regulatory enforcement and the preservation of educational institutions in the context of state politics.
Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi , seeking his immediate intervention to halt the proposed demolition of 38 out of 40 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.
In his letter, Mr. Jha stated that demolishing a functioning university serving around 3,000 students would amount to destroying an educational institution established under State legislation. He argued that any alleged irregularities related to building approvals should be addressed through legal and regulatory measures rather than large-scale demolition.
