Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday (August 3, 2026) called for deeper integration between the military and civilian components of the Ministry of Defence (MoD), saying greater synergy was essential to address evolving security and technological challenges as the armed forces move towards enhanced jointness.
Addressing the 85th Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ) Civilian Services Day celebrations in New Delhi, Mr. Singh said military and administrative integration must progress together, stressing that both uniformed personnel and civilian officials were united by the shared commitment of “Nation First.”
“As joint and integrated structures develop, there will be a need for continuity and expertise across policy, administration, human resource management, financial processes, logistics and institutional knowledge,” he said.
The Defence Minister advocated structured cross-exposure between military and civilian officers through joint training programmes and developmental assignments to strengthen mutual understanding and improve decision-making.
