The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Rajasthan has imposed a restriction on outsiders entering government schools and barred photography and videography without written approval, while citing the “safety and privacy” of students. The abrupt decision triggered a political row in the State on Monday (August 17, 2026).
The move came shortly after the protests were staged in some schools over dilapidated buildings, shortage of teachers and lack of basic facilities. Activists of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) joined an agitation by students and villagers in a school at Thanagazi in Alwar district on August 14, forcing the authorities to accede to their demands.
