Rajamahendravaram court grants two-day police custody of hit-and-run accused

A Rajamahendravaram court on Wednesday granted a two-day police custody of accused – Suravarapu Daswanth and Andrew Joseph Edwards – to investigate them in a hit-and-run incident, which occurred on August 3 and led to the death of Dr. Kanike Priyanka, a first year Postgraduate student of GSL Medical College. The two suspects were sent to judicial custody on August 7 to Rajahmundry Central Prison till August 21. “The local court has allowed the accused, Suravarapu Daswanth and Andrew Joseph Edwards, police custody for two days, beginning Wednesday. ASP and Investigation Officer Patil Devaraj Manish will investigate the case and probe the case with the accused," East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore told The Hindu. On August 3, the accused allegedly in an inebriated condition hit the two-wheeler, on which Priyanka was riding pillion, with a car at a mall in Rajamahendravaram city.
