Rain on way for UK with temperatures to drop to overnight lows of 3C in some places

The UK is expecting a shift from a record-breaking hot, dry summer to cooler, wetter conditions as high pressure gives way to low pressure. While the rain is welcomed, experts warn it will not be sufficient to end the current drought conditions across England and Wales.

UK weather patterns are set to change, following a record-breaking summer of extreme heat and prolonged dry weather.
Wisley in Surrey has notched up 60 days with no recorded rainfall. Significant rain has been lacking elsewhere with most areas of England and Wales in drought.
There is some welcome rain forecast this week, though it's not likely to be significant or bring any change to the dry conditions.
It will also turn noticeably cooler in the coming days with temperatures falling below average across the UK.
