Railways takes steps to monitor quality of drinking water supplied to passengers

The Tiruchi Railway Division has taken steps to continuously monitor the quality of drinking water by ensuring strict compliance with the prescribed standards and procedures to make sure that safe and quality drinking water is supplied to passengers.

Water quality testing is being carried out through the prescribed railway laboratory / testing facilities in accordance with applicable Railway Board instructions and the Uniform Drinking Water Quality Protocol.

Officials concerned have been instructed to strictly adhere to the prescribed testing periodicity and maintain proper records of all tests. Specific targets have been fixed for water sampling and testing with instructions to ensure that there were no shortfalls.
