Raila Odinga Mausoleum nears completion as PS Mariru inspects works in Bondo

Construction of the Raila Amolo Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya, is more than 95 per cent complete, with the project entering its final phase ahead of its planned unveiling next week.
The Ministry of Defence took over the implementation of the project in July 2026, with significant progress recorded in just over two months.
Principal Secretary for Defence Patrick Mariru on Wednesday led a team from the ministry in inspecting the mausoleum to assess the progress of works and its readiness ahead of the unveiling.
He was accompanied by a team from the National Museums of Kenya (NMK), led by Director General Prof Mary Gikungu.
The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with NMK, following a directive by President William Ruto.
