Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi called former Congress MLA Rahul Bondre and prevented him from switching parties. Former MLA of Chikhli Assembly seat in Buldhana district was likely to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) .
“Don’t come under psychological pressure; you are a loyal Congressman, don’t fall prey to it. They want to finish the competition and increase their influence. Without losing, you can’t win; losing is the foundation of victory,” said Mr. Gandhi on a conference call with Mr. Bondre, persuading him not to switch. Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal got Rahul Gandhi on phone to speak to Rahul Bondre, urging him to stay with Congress.
