Qinwen Zheng has continued her impressive run of form by reaching the last 16 of the China Open.
Playing in front of her home fans in Beijing, the Chinese superstar defeated Marie Bouzkova 7-6(7-3), 4-6, 7-5. Zheng needed almost three hours to finish the job, having also required three sets to make it past Shi Han and Anna Kalinskaya in her previous two matches.
Zheng now meets Alina Charaeva in the last 16 of the WTA 1000 tournament, with her upcoming opponent still on a high after knocking out world number one Elena Rybakina. Rybakina lost her first match since becoming number one, with Charaeva having also overcome Yuliia Starodubtseva and Sonay Kartal. Ahead of their match, Zheng has explained an issue that she has been experiencing at the China Open .
