Work on construction of Pushkar ghats along the Godavari in the historic temple town of Bhadrachalam began on Saturday ahead of the Godavari Pushkarams scheduled to be held in 2027.

The State government has allocated ₹46.65 crore in the first phase for puhskar ghat and related works. The works will be executed in three phases at an estimated cost of ₹49 crore, including ₹1.75 crore for the second phase and ₹60 lakh for the third phase, and are scheduled to be completed by March next year, official sources said.

New Pushkar ghats will be constructed along the Godavari at Bhadrachalam, Parnashala in Dummugudem mandal and Mothepattinagar in Burgampadu mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkat Rao and Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector Ankit attended the bhoomi puja held in Bhadrachalam to mark the commencement of the works.
