Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) that Punjab is "grappling" with a serious drug problem due to the AAP government's "poor governance", as he called the Bhagwant Mann dispensation 'Aapda' (disaster).
"Punjab is grappling with a serious drug problem due to the poor governance of the 'Aapda' government," Mr. Shah said in a post on X in Punjabi, shortly before speaking at a public meeting in Village Paragpur in Jalandhar. The address marked the culmination of the BJP's Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra, which was launched in the State on September 18.
Mr. Shah said the people of Punjab are waging a decisive battle against drugs, and to unite the State in eradicating them, the BJP launched the 'Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra' on September 18.
This Yatra reached every village in Punjab, raising awareness about drugs while also inspiring youth to join the campaign, he said.
