LAHORE - Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari on Thursday said the provincial government has been clearing rainwater during ongoing monsoon spells without waiting for rainfall to stop, claiming that record rainfall in Rawalpindi was managed within hours. She said the government had strengthened its drainage response through pre-monsoon desilting, cleaning of drains and waterways, deployment of field teams and machinery, and preparation of standard operating procedures. According to Bokhari, 990 new drainage vehicles have been provided to WASA on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, helping accelerate rainwater clearance across Punjab.
