Punalur municipality to host free ‘Swap Fair’ in October
The Punalur municipality in Kerala is launching a 'Swap Fair' in October to redistribute reusable household items to those in need. The initiative aims to promote sustainability and eventually establish a permanent 'Swap Shop' to reduce waste and support underprivileged families.

As part of a major sustainability and community welfare drive, the Punalur municipality is organizing a ‘Swap Fair’ during the first week of October to collect and redistribute reusable household items to those in need, free of cost.
The initiative is being implemented by integrating three major programmes: the Central government’s Swachhata Hi Seva, the State government’s Kaiyodu Kai, and the Municipality’s flagship project Care.
“As part of a month-long cleanliness and awareness campaign running from September 17 to October 17, we are launching a massive collection drive. Reusable items will be collected directly from households across the municipality through local schools, Kudumbashree units, and various voluntary organizations,” said an official.
