Public urged to support enumeration exercise

District administrations in India have launched a month-long house listing exercise for the 2027 Census. Officials are urging the public to cooperate with enumerators to ensure accurate data collection for future policy formulation.
Why it matters
Census data is fundamental for government resource allocation, infrastructure planning, and democratic representation.
Two days after the house listing operations for Census 2027 began in the district, enumerators and supervisors are making door-to-door visits to collate information on the data sets.
According to the district administration, 2,660 enumerators and 418 supervisors are making door-to-door visits to collate information that would go on to inform the population data sets. District Collector C. Dinesh Kumar inaugurated the house listing operations on Saturday.
The enumerators and supervisors will visit houses with their identification cards. People are requested to verify their identity and provide the information sought. The information collated shall be used only for the purposes of Census and shall not be used for any other purposes, the administration said.
Households have been requested to support the exercise and provide the information. The Census, which began on August 1, will end on August 30.
