Public sector pay talks to resume at the WRC

Public sector pay negotiations in Ireland have resumed at the Workplace Relations Commission following a recent 24-hour strike by 300,000 workers. Both unions and government officials are aiming for a deal that balances fair compensation with productivity and reform.
Why it matters
The outcome of these talks is critical for national economic stability and the maintenance of essential public services in Ireland.
Public sector pay talks are set to resume this morning at the Workplace Relations Commission.
The negotiations began yesterday afternoon and concluded after about five hours.
Leaving the talks last night, General Secretary of the Fórsa trade union Kevin Callinan said the first day had been an opportunity for both sides to lay out their opening positions.
"We went through, in some detail, our priorities in relation to pay and the various aspects of it," Mr Callinan said.
