‘Public education system is real yardstick of good governance’

The Telangana People’s Front (TPF) has called for urgent measures to strengthen government schools and ensure quality, equitable education across the State.

Speaking at a round-table conference organised by the TPF at the Press Club, Mahbubnagar, on Wednesday, its core committee member Srujana Yadav said the condition of public education system should be treated as a key measure of good governance. She said the state of the public education system is perhaps the most important measure to understand whether a government is delivering good governance

Another core committee member, retired bureaucrat M.V. Reddy said nearly 50 lakh families in Telangana have been affected by the lack of quality education in government schools, and that many families are compelled to send their children to private schools, often taking on significant financial burdens.
