The Omalur (Kottagoundampatti) toll plaza is situated on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway, and vehicles heading from Salem to Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Mettur, and Bengaluru have to cross it. The toll plaza authorities increased the toll fee for local vehicles starting September 1. The toll for cars was raised to ₹60 from ₹15 and for heavy vehicles, it was increased to ₹200 from ₹25. The local public and various outfits have demanded rollback of this hike, considering the welfare of local people.
