PU’s new campus at Mahe to be ready by next academic year

Pondicherry University is set to open a new campus in the Mahe region by the next academic year following the transfer of three acres of land from the local government. The facility will offer specialized courses in fields like FinTech, Data Analytics, and Logistics to serve students from the Union Territory, Kerala, and Karnataka.

The permanent campus of the Pondicherry University in Mahe region of the Union Territory will be ready by the next academic year.
In a release, the university said the Puducherry government had completed the procedures to transfer around three acres of land to the institute at Chalakkara in the enclave of Mahe. The transfer of the land followed a cabinet decision taken in January this year to lease the property to the university for a period of 19 years for a fee of ₹5 per annum.
Prior to that, the university had posted Rajeesh Viswanathan, Professor and Head of the Department of International Business, School of Management as the Officer on Special Duty to carry forward the project pending since 1989, the release said.
