Why it matters
The loss of military personnel during training exercises raises questions about safety protocols and impacts local communities deeply.
Private Shaun Farrell will be escorted home during his final journey back to Prince Albert on Saturday.
The 23-year-old was one of four soldiers who died exactly one week ago when a fast-moving grass fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright overtook a live-fire training exercise on a nearby grenade range. The other soldiers killed were Sgt. Morgan Wong of Edmonton, Pte. Aidan Goulding of North Vancouver, B.C., and Pte. Hayden Lykkemark of Langley, B.C.
