Why it matters
Agricultural protests frequently impact regional transport and public access to essential services, reflecting ongoing tensions in the farming sector.
Some pilgrims faced difficulty in reaching the Saundatti Yallamma temple in Belagavi district after protesting sugarcane farmers blocked the Munnoli-Saundatti Road in Belagavi district on Wednesday.
A team of farmers led by Shekhar Gokavi staged a rasta roko and started singing folk songs on the road near Munnolli Cross.
Some of the pilgrims had to walk for a distance and ride bikes to reach the temple later. The protest for higher Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane and revised Minimum Selling Price for sugar has entered the second day.
