Protest launched demanding cattle underpass at Chombala

Protesters in Kozhikode have launched a campaign demanding the construction of a cattle underpass on the national highway at Chombala. Residents fear that current highway plans will restrict access to the local veterinary hospital and stadium.
Why it matters
The protest underscores the tension between large-scale infrastructure development and the daily accessibility needs of local rural communities.
A protest demanding the construction of a cattle underpass (CUP) on the national highway at Chombala in Kozhikode was launched under the aegis of Janakeeya Prakshobha Samithi near the Chombala mini stadium on Tuesday (August 4).
The protesters urged the authorities to construct a CUP near the Chombala block office, citing concerns that access to the Government Veterinary Hospital and the mini stadium would be cut off once the NH construction was completed.
