The Adivasi Girijana Sangham and the Parents’ Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Residential School for Boys at Marikavalasa have opposed the government’s decision to discontinue the school and establish a Centre of Excellence on its premises.
The organisations staged a rally from Jagadamba Centre to the Visakhapatnam Collectorate and held a protest there on Thursday.
Association national executive member P. Appala Narasa said they were not opposed to the proposed Centre of Excellence, but wanted the government to provide an alternative building without closing the existing school.
