Prostate cancer: A growing health concern for Caribbean men

Beyond the statistics, prostate cancer presents a growing challenge for families, healthcare providers and a region already grappling with the burden of noncommunicable diseases. Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among Caribbean men and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. A Caribbean concern Research published in 2022 on prostate cancer in the Caribbean reported an age-standardized incidence rate of approximately 76 cases per 100,000 men and a mortality rate of 28 deaths per 100,000 men in 2020. These figures demonstrate the seriousness of the disease across the region, although rates vary among individual countries and territories.
