Proposed shift of Prajwal Revanna to Hindalga prison temporarily put on hold
The Karnataka Prisons Department has temporarily halted the transfer of former MP Prajwal Revanna from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to Hindalga Prison. The delay follows a security breach involving a mobile phone found in his possession.
Why it matters
The incident raises questions about prison security and the management of high-profile inmates.
The Karnataka Prisons Department’s proposal to shift Prajwal Revanna, former Hassan MP, who is serving a life sentence in a rape case, from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison has been temporarily put on hold.
According to Prison Department sources, Revanna was to be shifted to the Hindalga Prison, but the move has been put on hold due to “administrative and technical” reasons.
The development comes on the heels of Revanna allegedly being found in possession of a mobile phone during a Central Crime Branch (CCB) raid on the prison on August 11.
