Professional theatre still active in villages, says Regional Commissioner K.M. Janaki
Regional Commissioner K.M. Janaki has emphasized the importance of preserving professional theatre in rural India, noting its role in cultural heritage. The event, held in Belagavi, encouraged younger generations to engage with traditional performing arts to keep the tradition alive.

Professional theatre is still very much alive in rural areas, and there is a need to respect and encourage professional theatre, art and artists. We need to expose our children to such performances, Regional Commissioner K.M. Janaki said in Belagavi on Saturday.
Speaking at the valedictory of the ‘Acting with Theatre Music Training Camp’, organised by the Davangere-based professional theatre Rangayana, Ms. Janaki urged young men and women to learn and present such performances in school and colleges.
Professional theatre is an important part of the cultural heritage of our land. Along with entertaining people through acting, music and theatre, professional theatre plays a significant role in introducing our traditions and culture to the younger generation. Everyone should join hands to preserve and promote such art forms, she said, according to a release.
