Process of identifying land for establishing dry port begins in Tiruchi

The Department of Revenue has begun the process of identifying the land to set up an inland container depot, also referred to as a multi-modal logistics hub or dry port in Tiruchi.

Taking into account the persistent demands of the local industry and Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay recently announced in the State Assembly that the State government would soon carry out a detailed study on establishing a multi-modal logistics hub in Tiruchi.

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) has been tasked with the job of preparing the Detailed Project Report. The facility is expected to have container handling, warehousing, cold chain, and temperature-controlled facilities, terminals, cargo consolidation and distribution hubs, and customs clearance. The infrastructure is expected to benefit the trade and industry in the region.
