A four-member committee has been constituted to inquire into the death of 13-year-old student Tellam Jahnavi of the A.P. Tribal Welfare Residential School at Kothulagutta in Polavaram district, officials said on Monday.
Ms. Jahnavi, a native of Palluru village in Kunavaram mandal, was studying in Class VII. The committee comprises the Chintoor ITDA Assistant Project Officer (Tribal Welfare), District Medical and Health Officer, District Hospital Services Coordinator and Tribal Welfare Deputy Director of Polavaram district.
On August 29, teachers at the residential school admitted Ms. Jahnavi to the Kothulagutta Primary Health Centre after she complained of vomiting. She was discharged the same day and taken back to the hostel.
On August 30, she developed the same health complication and was admitted to the Kunavaram Community Health Centre. She was subsequently referred to Bhadrachalam and later to Khammam, where she died while undergoing treatment.
