Private travel bus catches fire in Srikakulam district, no injuries reported

A private travel bus caught fire near Narasannapeta in India's Srikakulam district after a technical malfunction. No injuries were reported as passengers and staff successfully evacuated the vehicle before it was destroyed.

A private travel bus was burnt completely after it caught fire on Saturday (September 19, 2026) near Narasannapeta of Srikakulam district.
According to locals, the KVR Travels bus which was travelling from Vijayawada to Palasa stopped near Narasannapeta due to technical glitch. As many as seven passengers got down immediately after smoke was seen emitting from the engine. The bus was burnt through within no time, soon after the driver, staff and passengers deboarded.
As a result, the traffic on both sides of Narasannapeta national highway was congested due to the fire.
