Private land to be expropriated to strengthen Latvia-Belarus border
The Latvian government has authorized the expropriation of small plots of private land along the border with Belarus to improve security infrastructure. The project includes the construction of patrol strips and the installation of border surveillance markers.

On Tuesday, the government authorised the Ministry of the Interior to expropriate around ten small plots of land for the development of infrastructure along the Latvia–Belarus border.
All of the properties are located in Krāslava and Augšdaugava municipalities. None of the individual plots exceeds half a hectare.
