Private colleges should adopt new ideas, experiments, educational practices: M. Mohan Alva

Alva’s Education Foundation chairman and president of the Mangalore University Private Colleges Managements Association M. Mohan Alva on Wednesday said private colleges should adopt new ideas, experiments, and educational practices while managements should work together to find solutions to common problems in line with the rapid changes taking place in the higher education sector.

Speaking at the annual general meeting of the association in Moodbidri, Dr. Alva said there are continuous changes in higher education in terms of technology, skill-based education, job opportunities, and student expectations. In this context, it is necessary for colleges to adapt their academic and administrative systems to the times.

There are about 130 private colleges under Mangalore University and many of them are facing academic, administrative, and infrastructure-related challenges. He said the organisation should be strengthened further by bringing managements of all colleges under one platform, discussing common problems, and finding solutions together.
