A 23-year-old prisoner was allegedly stabbed with a piece of wire by another inmate inside Kannur Central Jail on Saturday (August 29, 2026) afternoon.
According to the case registered by Kannur Town Police on Sunday (August 30, 2026), the incident took place around 3.10 p.m. on August 29 inside the prison, where the accused, identified as Appu, allegedly stabbed fellow prisoner Manu K. Jukku with a piece of wire.
Appu was serving his sentence in Cell no. 7 of the T Block when the incident occurred, the police said. Appu allegedly attacked Manu — a native of Vaikom in the Kottayam district — under the mistaken belief that Manu was mocking him.
