Police have arrested a prisoner who escaped during a transfer from a secure hospital facility to North Manchester Hospital on Tuesday evening.
Marwan Jumaa, 20, is in Lancashire Constabulary custody following a manhunt, Greater Manchester Police said in the early hours of Friday.
"An observant Lancashire Constabulary officer recognised Jumaa and acted swiftly to arrest him," Detective Supt Nicola McCulloch said in a statement. "He will now be returned to a secure hospital facility."
Officers had issued an appeal for information after Jumaa, who is serving an indefinite sentence for attacking two women, absconded during the hospital transfer. He was described as a risk to others and himself.
