KIBOGA, Uganda: The High Court in Kiboga has convicted prison warder Moses Anguyo of seven offences, including the murder of four people, after he pleaded guilty to all the charges arising from a February shooting at Kiboga Government Prison.
Anguyo admitted four counts of murder over the deaths of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Catherine Hope, Principal Officer I Bright Akishuri, Sarah Ayebare and her infant son, Salson Niwagaba.
He also pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery involving clothes taken at gunpoint and one count of threatening violence against Superintendent of Prisons Ivan Niwagaba, the officer in charge of Kiboga Government Prison.
Lady Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga convicted Anguyo on Sunday, August 31, following his guilty pleas.
The court is expected to sentence him on September 1 after hearing victim-impact accounts from the victims’ families, the Uganda Prisons Service and members of the community.
