The CPI(M) has urged MPs from both the ruling TDP and the opposition YSRCP to prioritise Andhra Pradesh’s interests during the Monsoon Session of Parliament instead of extending unconditional support to the Centre.
Addressing the media here on Sunday, its State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao called upon the MPs to raise issues affecting the State, including the crisis faced by tobacco, maize, mango and aquaculture farmers, and seek solutions from the Union government.
The directions issued by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asking their MPs to support the Centre reflected political interests taking precedence over the State’s welfare, he alleged.
Expressing support for environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk and student organisations protesting against alleged examination irregularities, he demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over repeated examination paper leaks, and announced the party’s support for student protests in Vijayawada.
