Prince Harry, who had a beer in his hand, is a keen rugby fan and was in attendance with Andrea Pinchen, the Tigers chief executive.
He was pictured on the big screen at the ground but there were audible boos before TNT cameras cut away.
Nick Mullins, on TNT commentary, referenced the mixed reception and said "some boos there" before moving on swiftly.
It was the Duke's latest public appearance since his family's return to the United Kingdom . He is back after six years living in California and was seen last month at Tower Bridge Studios in Central London.
