Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday virtually inaugurated four redeveloped railway stations in Karnataka — Alnavar, Badami, Bantwal, and Koppal — under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), as part of the nationwide inauguration of 75 modernised railway stations developed at a total cost of ₹1,570 crore.
On the occasion, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot described the inauguration as another milestone in the transformation of Indian Railways. He said that the Prime Minister had also flagged off a hydrogen-powered train earlier in the day, reflecting India’s commitment to green and sustainable transport. He further noted that the Prime Minister had earlier laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 1,062 railway stations across the country and highlighted that Karnataka has been allocated ₹7,748 crore for railway development in the Union Budget 2026-27, while Indian Railways received an overall allocation of ₹2.78 lakh crore.
