Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam has embarked on his first state visit to Malaysia to strengthen bilateral ties. The four-day trip includes meetings with the Malaysian King, Prime Minister, and various economic leaders.

Listen SINGAPORE – President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will be on a four-day state visit to Malaysia from July 12 at the invitation of its King.
This is the President’s first state visit across the Causeway, and follows Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar’s state visit to Singapore in May 2024 .
During his trip from July 12 to 15, President Tharman will have meetings in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on July 12.
His first stop will be Kuala Lumpur, where he will receive a state welcome ceremony at Istana Negara, the official residence of the King. He will then call on Sultan Ibrahim and his wife, Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah, and be hosted to a state banquet.
