RESIDENTS and businesses across Ekurhuleni have been urged to prepare for possible water shortages as Rand Water embarks on a major infrastructure maintenance programme this week.
The planned maintenance will take place from Friday, 17 July, to Sunday, 19 July 2026, and is expected to affect several parts of the metro.
City of Ekurhuleni spokesman Zweli Dlamini said the work forms part of Phase Two of Rand Water’s infrastructure maintenance programme, which aims to strengthen the bulk water supply system and ensure a more reliable and sustainable water supply in future.
“During this period, some areas across Ekurhuleni may experience low water pressure or no water, depending on the system supplying the area. Residents are encouraged to store enough water for essential household use such as drinking, cooking, and sanitation,” said Dlamini.
The maintenance will affect the Palmiet, Zwartkopjes and Mapleton water systems.
