PremiAir Racing reveals new number for Cooper Murray

Racing driver Cooper Murray will use the number 36 for his debut with PremiAir Racing in the Supercars championship. The number holds personal significance for Murray, as it was previously used by his father in his own racing career.
Why it matters
This highlights the personal branding and historical connections that drivers maintain within the professional motorsport industry.
Murray began his racing career in the #36 and last used the number in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia with McElrea Racing.
The number has significance for Murray, whose father Adam raced with it in karts and cars.
“The decision to allow Cooper to bring that number with him to PremiAir Racing is no accident,” PremiAir Racing said in a statement.
“Since taking ownership of the team, Peter Xiberras has always believed in giving his drivers the freedom to choose their own race numbers.
“For Peter, it is about more than logistics; it is about giving a driver an immediate sense of ownership and connection with their car from day one.
