Praveen Kumar alleges caste discrimination in Wanaparthy dist.

BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar has accused a Congress MLA's relative of preventing a Dalit youth from entering a temple in Wanaparthy district. He has demanded police action and threatened protests if the incident is not addressed as a case of caste discrimination.
Why it matters
Allegations of caste-based discrimination in public spaces remain a significant social and political issue in India, often sparking intense local debate.
General secretary of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar has alleged that the maternal uncle of Congress MLA from Wanaparthy, T. Megha Reddy, has obstructed the entry of a SC (Madiga) youth into a temple at Mangampally and said it is discrimination in the name of caste.
In a statement, Mr. Praveen Kumar said on Tuesday that it would probably be a crime if somebody enters a temple constructed on a private land, but the one built at Mangampally was on gram panchayat land. He sought to know from the MLA whether it was not discrimination, and in case he has any moral value, he should go to Pedda Mandadi police station and lodge a complaint against his maternal uncle.
